Members of the Niles Police Department will be participating in the “31st Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics” scheduled for Sunday June 4, 2017.
Members of the Niles Police Department will be running in leg 8, which starts at approximately 10:00 a.m. at the corner of Milwaukee and Greenwood Avenues. Niles Participants will be running southbound Milwaukee Avenue from Greenwood Avenue to Dempster Street. They will continue eastbound on Dempster Street to Waukegan Road, approximately 2.76 miles, where they will pass the “Flame of Hope” torch to members of the Morton Grove Police Department.

Let’s go Sox! The day will include a 2-hour pre-game, all you can eat buffet, bingo in the patio area, and a game ticket in the lower level. Patio buffet features: Cajun chicken, fried chicken, hot dogs, bbq ribs, hamburgers, salads, unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks. The patio opens at 11:40am and bingo begins at 12:00pm. A former White Sox player will be calling the Bingo numbers as well.

Join North Branch Trail Alliance of Greater Chicago for its inaugural ride, rescheduled due to weather to June 24! The ride goes from Forest Glen to Niles and will make stops at businesses along the way. Starts in Forest Glen @ the North Branch Trail and goes to Howard Street Inn in Niles from 11 AM - 2 PM. Everyone will return to Edgebrook for Destination Devon Community Celebration from 2PM - 4 PM.

Join us as we head downtown to get the whole story of the legendary stories of Chicago crime. This will be a guided bus tour with photo opportunities. We will investigate Al Capone, The Untouchables, The Chicago Mob, John Dillinger, H.H. Holmes, George Streeter, The Chicago Black Sox, Leopold & Loeb, and more. See the site of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, one of Chicago’s most notorious murder scenes. We will stake out crime scenes like the Biograph Theatre, Holy Name Cathedral and other Chicago landmarks. Grab your camera for a drive-by shooting of the historic criminal courthouse, a Chicago architectural landmark where some of Chicago’s most notorious cases were tried. We will explore crime scenes in Chicago’s River North, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Old Town, Loop and Magnificent Mile neighborhoods. After the tour, we will check out the extraordinary Eataly. Time allowed to shop, eat, and see what all the hype is about. Lunch in on your own.
