On October 3, 2019, clinical staff from Niles Family Services will engage members of the community on the topic of Domestic Violence at Our Lady of Ransom Church from 6:00 P.M.–9:00 P.M. This educational forum will also have dedicated time for answering questions and interacting with residents. Topics to be discussed include but are not limited to: Facts about domestic violence, safety planning, orders of protection, law enforcement responsibilities, domestic violence and substance
use and civil action.
The forum will be presented by members of the Niles Police Department and Licensed Social Workers from Niles Family Services. Materials and handouts from the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence will be utilized and made available to the attendees.

Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will be holding property tax assessment appeal seminars for residents seeking to appeal their 2019 property assessments. The hour-long session will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal. Before the end of the evening, taxpayers will have an opportunity to work with staff from the Board of Review to address their specific questions and concerns. The event is free to the public and no registration is necessary.

Trunk or Treat, an annual family-friendly Halloween event for families in Niles and the surrounding communities, will be held in the parking lot at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Ave., Niles, Saturday, Oct. 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 per child. Parents are free.
There are three ways to participate. First, candy may be donated at the school office by Friday, Oct. 11. Second, car trunks may be decorated and entered to win a prize in the trunk decorating contest. There is no charge to enter the trunk decorating contest. Third, children may come in costume and “trunk or treat.”

School is out, so bring the kiddos and jam it out with a Latin Dance Party! We will have it all on our playlist: merengue, bachata, salsa, mariachi, cumbia and even reggeton! If you have a special request of a song that makes you cut a rug, please let us know in advance so we can make sure it makes the playlist! Meal includes: taco salad, chicken and beef, toppings, beverage, and dessert.
