[ARCHIVED] Niles Teen Center- Week of October 25

Please find below information on events and activities taking place at or with the Niles Teen Center in the next couple of weeks.

1) Saturday, 10/31- Halloween Trick or Treating
Recommended Hours are 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm- PLEASE BE SAFE!!!

2) New Teen Center Logo Design- WE HAVE A WINNER!!
IT’S FUNKY … IT’S FRESH .. IT’s EDGY
With the help of teens and many staff from the Village of Niles, we have decided on our final design for the new Teen Center Logo. See Attached.
Over the coming six-nine months, we will be rolling out the new design on our marketing and information materials. We will be changing the signage on the building and updating our selection of T-shirt and accessories through CafePress.com.

3) Golf Mill- Mallo-ween Bash- Saturday 10/31 from 12 noon to 4:00 pm
Enjoy indoor trick-or-treating in a safe, warm environment during Golf Mill Shopping Center’s Mall-O-Ween Bash on Saturday October 31st from noon to 4pm! Participating retailers will be handing out candy during the event (while supplies last) to children 12 and younger. There will also be costume contests, arts & crafts, and Halloween-themed music and entertainment in Center Court. Trick-or-treating maps and registration for the costume contest will be at the Golf Mill table in center court starting at noon. The Halloween-themed entertainment will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by the costume contest at 2pm. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories 0-3, 4-7, and 8-12 years old.
Admission is free. Golf Mill Shopping Center requires that all children be supervised by an adult. Mask are not permitted to be worn by teens or adults on Golf Mill Shopping Center property.

4) Thursday, Oct. 29- Craft Project- 4:00- 5:30 pm- Fake Scars!!!
Learn to make fake scars, bullet holes, bruises and wounds for Halloween! Use super-sculpy to make horns and learn to attach and blend them onto your skin. If you have any skin allergies, bring your own makeup pallet in pinks, purples, greens and yellows that is safe for your own skin and Halley will show you how to do it with your own makeup!

5) Tues. Oct. 27– Air Hockey Tournament- 4:00 pm
Most Tuesdays at 4:00p.m., Nick will set up tournaments for video games and table games like Foosball, Air Hockey, Darts, NBA2K15 or Call of Duty 3. Prizes may be awarded to winners.

6) Wed. Oct. 28- “Girl Talk” Continues from 4:00-5:00 pm
Girl Talk is a group designed to meet the social emotional needs of teen girls. This group focuses on improving self-esteem, self-image, communication skills, conflict resolution, reducing stressors and addressing other issues teen girls face.

7) Community Tile Art Project- Lights ON Afterschool
Please participate in our community-wide, all-ages art project. See the Attached Directions and Template.

8) Fri. Nov. 6- Teen “In House” Movie Night- 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm- $3 each
Come to the Teen Center for Teen Movie Nights. Stop by or call to recommend a teen movie. All movies will be PG or PG-13. Bring a pillow or blanket and make yourself at home. Additional snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Fee goes toward additional supervision. No sign-up prior to event is necessary.
Movie Choices will be …
Air-(PG-13- Sci-Fi- 94 min)- When Earth's air ceases to be breathable, two engineers become caretakers of an underground bunker housing cryogenically preserved humans -- the species' last hope. But as the pair maintains the environment, they struggle to hold on to their sanity.
Pitch Perfect 2- (PG-13- Comedy-115 min)- Hoping to be the first American group ever to win a prestigious international a cappella competition, the Barden Bellas return in this song-filled sequel and come up against a rival group of European singers who are also determined to win.
The Longest Week (PG-13- Comedy- 86 min)- After his wealthy parents divorce, 40-year-old Conrad Valmont loses his generous living allowance and posh hotel digs. His friend Dylan Tate takes Conrad in -- but his gratitude doesn't prevent him from making a move on the woman Dylan has eyes for.

9) Niles Public Library- Teen Events and Programs
The second-annual Fandom Fest takes place November 21. Teens are encouraged to come in costume and bring their fan art for display.
