[ARCHIVED] West Nile Virus Season Is Not Over Yet

As of September 11, 2015, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 10 human cases of West Nile virus with three deaths.
While cooler temperatures last week decreased mosquito feeding, warmer temperatures forecast for this week will increase mosquito biting activity and the risk of West Nile virus transmission.
Please continue to take personal protection measures to avoid being infected including: the use of insect repellent on exposed skin, wearing light colored, loose fitting clothing and avoiding peak mosquito feeding times during the hours around dawn and dusk. Residents are urged to examine their property and eliminate any items that can hold water, particularly smaller items that may be easily overlooked.
Remember, if it can hold water, it can breed mosquitoes.
