Please find below information on events and activities taking place at or with the Niles Teen Center in the next couple of weeks.
1) Tues. Sept 8- Injustice Tournament- 4:00 pm
Most Tuesdays at 4:00p.m., Nick will set up tournaments for video games and table games like Foosball, Air Hockey, Darts, NBA2K15 or Call of Duty 3. Prizes may be awarded to winners.
2) “Girl Talk” Continues on Wednesday, Sept. 9- 4:00-5:00 pm
Girl Talk is a group designed to meet the social emotional needs of teen girls. This group focuses on improving self-esteem, self-image, communication skills, conflict resolution, reducing stressors and addressing other issues teen girls face.
3) Staff Time Off
Halley will be on vacation in New York on Tuesday September 8.
Mark will be taking a vacation day on Wednesday September 9
4) Thurs. Sept 10- Craft Project- Pixel Art
Everyone’s favorite art project is back! Come make a perler bead design in any shape you like! It’s first come first serve for the beading bases (and only one base per person!) so make sure you’re ready to go when we start. These are great for hanging in lockers, pinning to bulletin boards or gluing magnets to and putting up on your fridge or metal furniture.
On most Thursdays of each month, Halley will lead a free arts and craft project from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. Projects could include: jewelry making, nail salon, or posters and drawings.
5) Teen Center CLOSED on Friday, September 11 due to Village of Niles Paint-A-thon
The department heads for the Village of Niles will be participating in a day of service on Friday, September 11. They will be painting the exterior of a number of homes in Niles for needy families. Due to this day of service, the Teen Center will not be open. Thanks for your understanding
6) Thursday Sept. 17- Speaker Series- U.S. Marine Corps.- 5:30-6:30 pm
All Teen Center members are invited to attend these educational programs by speakers from the local community.
Sgt. Larry Lechuga will offer a presentation about the history of the Marines and possible future careers in the military.
7) Shim’s Martial Arts - Free Class Trip- Deadline Friday, Sept. 18
Join Teen Center staff as we take a quick walk down to Shim’s (inside Golf Mill Mall) for a free class. Learn some basic taekwondo techniques as Master Shim talks to you about the benefits of self-discipline.

8) Golf Mill Mall- Event/Marketing Internship
PAID POSITION!!! for High School/ College Students
If you are interested in the event marketing field and enjoy working with people then Golf Mill Shopping Center has an opportunity for you! The marketing and events team is currently looking for interns to assist with marketing events. Interns would get hands on experience in the event marketing field from preparation to execution of events. These opportunities are perfect for students and those fresh out of college to begin building their resume. This is a paid position and will require a minimum of 8 hours per week. We will also gladly provide letters of recommendation in exchange for your time and effort not to mention various other perks along the way.

9) Halloween Social Dance Party at Interclub Academy of Dance
Friday, October 23
Interclub Academy of Dance would like to invite you to our Halloween Social Dance Party. The party will take place at Interclub Academy of Dance on October 23rd from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm at 7350 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Niles. The Halloween Social is your opportunity to dance the night away with other students!
The dance party will include:
* a group lesson,
* dance performances by students and teachers,
* games and mixers,
* best Halloween costume contest,
* raffle drawing,
* lots of social dancing,
* snacks and beverages,
Admission tickets purchased in advance are $15 per person. Tickets at the door will be $20 per person.

10) New Phone Number for Niles Teen Center- 847-588-6900
The Village of Niles has upgraded the phone system for all village buildings and employees. The Teen Center has now been incorporated into that system.
- The Teen Center will now have a new general phone number of 847-588-6900.
- There is a new voicemail system. There are voicemail boxes for general teen center messages and a separate voicemail box for Mark. All voicemail messages will also be delivered to staff via email, which may allow for a more prompt response. If you have a question or concern, always leave a message, we will call you back.
- If there is an emergency, there will be an option on the main line voicemail to be directly connected to Mark or another on-duty staff member.
- The current emergency cell phone of 847-408-0585 will only be used for trips. Please do not call or text this number any longer.
- We now have a phone mounted in the kitchen specifically for teens to receive and make calls to their parents. If a parent calls to talk to their child, the call will be transferred to the kitchen and the child asked to go pick it up.
- The current phone number of 847-375-8949 will be forwarded to the new system for approximately the next 3 months.
