Please find below information on events and activities taking place at or with the Niles Teen Center in the next couple of weeks.

2) 8th Annual “Night-in-the-Mall” Lock-In Party
Come to Golf Mill Shopping Center for our 8th Annual “Night-In-The-Mall” Lock-In Party. This will be one night you will never forget. Scheduled activities will include DJ & dancing by Pro-Mix, appetizers by Cici’s and beverages by Coca-Cola, a late-night movie, organized games and tournaments, Inflatable Football Toss & Alien Invasion by Jump Guy, late night sandwiches by Jimmy John’s, breakfast buffet, a “Free Expressions” art wall, photo selfie station and tons of prizes. This event will be supervised by staff and volunteers from the Niles Teen Center and sponsored by Golf Mill Shopping Center. Bring a sleeping bag and pillow if you’re thinking about sleeping.
“Night-In-The-Mall” is open to Teen Center members only. You must be a TC member by Thursday, June 11. You must turn in a Teen Trip form, a Golf Mill liability form and
money at the time of sign up to guarantee your spot. Space is limited to 100 teens; sign up now!!

Doors open at 10:15 - no entry after 10:45
No exit and no re-entry (that’s why it’s called a Lock-In and not a Lock-out, Silly!)

3) No “Girl Talk” this week- next group is Wed. June 3- 4:30-5:30 pm
4) Teen Center Closet Clean Out Clothing Swap!
Tuesday May 26 through Friday May 29
Shopping in your friend’s closet is always fun, so we’re making an event of it. Ann and Halley will be hosting a wardrobe clothing swap event at the Teen Center! Memorial Day is this coming Monday so why not take advantage of the holiday and start prepping your summer wardrobe? Bring in clothes and accessories from any season that you don’t wear anymore and pick up something new from a friend. Anything that no one wants we’ll donate to a charitable thrift store. Once you’ve cleaned out your closets and gotten some new-old items to love, you’ll be ready to start your summer wardrobe shopping spree. Halley and Ann with both be bringing in items from their closets to trade as well! We’ll keep it going from Tuesday, May 26th until Friday, May 29th to give everyone a chance to pick through it all (and bring in items as they’re able) before we donate anything!
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK WITH YOUR PARENTS BEFORE YOU BRING IN ANY CLOTHES!!!
5) New Furniture Donation- Restaurant Booths & Tables
The Teen Center accepted the donation of 6 commercial grade restaurant booths and tables last month. This has made for a nice upgrade in “sturdy” furniture for teen usage. Mark has finally finished with disposing the “worn and damage” furniture. Please see the attachment for pictures of the new layout.
6) Bike Niles Fest Is Coming- Mark your calendars!!!
Saturday, June 6 at Gemini Jr. High from 9:00am- noon
Come join the whole Niles community as we celebrate the joy of biking and make a commitment to bicycle safety. We will unveil Niles’ first marked bike path. The event will include a family bike ride, entertainment and refreshments.

7) School Visits by Niles Teen Center
During the week of May 18, Mark will be making classroom or lunch visits to most of the schools in the Niles area. If you see him, please make a point to say HELLO!!

8) Golf Mill Shopping Center- Landscaping and Pavement Repairs
We are very excited to inform you that Golf Mill will be making significant repairs to parking lots and sidewalks in the coming weeks. They are taking out dead trees and installing replacements. They will be planting flowers and installing large flower pots by all of the entrances. They will also be installing a butterfly garden outside, near the food court. The mall will be making concrete repairs in the drive lanes near Shop N Save and JCPenny and sidewalks. They will also be resurfacing the parking lots at Kohls and Target. Most of the pavement and concrete repairs will occur between Tuesday May 26 through Thursday June 11. Please be aware that this work will be going on. However, the work should not obstruct with regular drop-offs and pick up for the Teen Center.
9) National Day Calendar.
As a Christmas Gift, Mark received a National Day Calendar from his brother-in-law who is a rather unconventional thinker. This calendar does not list the any national, local or state holidays. But instead it is a calendar of fun and random holidays like “Hug a Plumber Day” and “Ice Cream Day”. In the spirit of fun, Mark will be providing these “holidays” each week as random and fun facts for teens and parents to enjoy and potentially use in their social media posts.
