The Niles Police Department 2014 Citizen Police Academy is now accepting applications. The Citizens Police Academy is a ten week program, which will start on September 11th, 2014 at 6:30 pm at the Niles Police Department.
In the ten-week program participants will learn about the Niles Police Department and how it functions. The Academy is a hands-on program covering topics which include firearms, crime scene investigations, patrol functions, Department Tour, History of Policing, Organizational Structure, Patrol Procedures, Law, Community Programs, Criminal Investigations, Vehicle Stops, Use of Force, Weapons Instruction, Ride Along (voluntary), Traffic Enforcement, Gang Awareness and Volunteer Programs.
An application can be obtained by going the Niles Police Department website at www.nilespd.com and type in academy in the search box. You can submit the application online, via email or print it out and submit via U.S. Mail.
If you would like to have a rewarding experience and gain a better understanding of law enforcement in the Village of Niles, please apply. We will limit the number of attendees so apply as early as possible. All applications must be submitted by September 1, 2014. The first class will be held on Thursday night, September 11th at 6:30 p.m. and will last until approximately 9:30 p.m. dismissed at 9:30 pm.
