[ARCHIVED] Village Receives ITEP Grant for Milwaukee Corridor

Awarded $820,000 Grant From the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP)

The Village of Niles has been awarded the very competitive Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program grant. The ITEP, funded through the Federal Surface Transportation Bill, specifically provides funding for community based projects that expand travel choices and enhance the transportation experience.

“We saw an opportunity to pursue federal grant funds that would not only allow the Village to study and address safety and transit conditions along the Milwaukee Avenue corridor, but to also enhance the corridor’s long term viability through streetscape beautification.”

The Milwaukee Avenue corridor, with a traffic count of 32,300 vehicles per day, is one of the Village’s most active and successful commercial / retail districts.
