[ARCHIVED] Crime Free Housing Classes

The Niles Police Department will be holding Crime Free Housing Classes.

The Niles Crime Free Multi-Housing Program was created to provide guidance to property owners and managers on how to deal with tenants. In this six-hour course, attendees will learn about proper tenant screening, conducting reference and background checks, leases, crime free lease addendums, proper property management, drug and gang awareness signs, crisis resolution, the role of police in property management, section eight vouchers, and the eviction process. The Village of Niles Crime Free Multi-Housing Program is a cooperative effort between the Village of Niles, Niles Police Department and Community Development Department.

Who should attend these training courses? Do you rent a house or multiunit building? Do you manage a residential rental property from one unit to 30 or more? Have you ever had problems with your tenants and needed advice? Then you should attend this training. If you own property that is being rented in Niles, the cost of this training is free. If you own residential rental property in another town in which they require Crime Free Housing certification, the training is also free. If you would just like to attend this training the cost is $35 to the general public. Every attendee will receive a 120 page manual covering all the necessary information to have a Crime Free Property.

To register for this class call 847-588-6500. If you have questions about this class or the Crime Free-Multi-Housing Program please call Sergeant Robert Tornabene at 847-588-6500.
