As of 6/2/2020, there have been no reports of looting or violence in Niles related to the current nationwide unrest and protests. It is easy for rumors to spread on social media, and can be difficult to discern fact from fiction. The Village strongly urges residents to go to official Village information sources to obtain accurate information about current events:

The Village of Niles made the following emergency call to the public around 9:15 P.M. on 5/31/2020:

This is an update about the current nationwide protests and unrest as they pertain to Niles.  As of this time, there have been no reported incidents or threats of looting, vandalism or riot related activity in the Village of Niles. However, businesses and residents are advised to use extra caution in public. The Village is coordinating with area law enforcement agencies and all first responders are on alert.

Please note that Pace has temporarily suspended all bus service, which includes the Niles Free Bus.

Your safety is our priority. If you feel you are in danger, if you witness a crime taking place or witness anything suspicious, call 911.
