The Niles Police Department in co-operation with Niles Fire Department is proud to announce the 2020 Community Emergency Response Team Training Course. This course starts on February 24, 2020 (Tuesday) from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. until April 28, 2020.
The CERT program is a program developed from the Citizens Corps designed to train to aid in disasters. Attendees will learn to prepare their homes and family how to mitigate damage or injuries during emergencies. Attendees will learn to function as members of volunteer teams to aid the community when requested. Other areas of training include Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical / First-Aid, Light Search and Rescue, CERT Organization, Disaster Psychology, CPR and Traffic Control. Once trained, participants will be allowed to continue their training to become a full-fledged member of the Niles Police Department’s Volunteers In Police Service (V.I.P.S.).
