The Niles Police Department 2019 Citizen Police Academy is now accepting applications. The Citizens Police Academy is a ten week program, which will start on September 10th, 2019 at 6:30 pm at the Niles Police Department. If you would like to have an insider’s view of the police department, then this is your opportunity.
During the ten-week program participants will learn about the Niles Police Department and how it functions. The Academy is a hands-on program covering topics that include Firearms, Crime Scene Investigations, Patrol Functions, History of Policing, Organizational Structure, Patrol Procedures, Law, Community Programs, Criminal Investigations, Vehicle Stops, Use of Force, Officer Ride-A-long (voluntary), Traffic Enforcement and Volunteer Programs.
An application can be obtained by going the Niles Police Department website at https://www.vniles.com/382/Citizens-Police-Academy. You can submit the application online, via email or print it out and submit it via U.S. Mail.
We have a maximum class size of 25 people, so apply as early as possible. All applications must be submitted by September 1, 2019. As a reminder the first class starts on Tuesday night, September 10th at 6:30 p.m. and will last until approximately 9:30 p.m.
