Residents are encouraged to use extra caution when driving Thursday night (1/31) and Friday morning (2/1). Snow is in the forecast, and salt is ineffective at current temperatures. This combination will make for slick roads, despite normal snow plowing by Public Works.
By late Friday morning, temperatures will be high enough for salt to be effective again and road conditions to improve.
Also, there will be no recycling collection in Niles this week (week of January 28). Garbage collection will still take place, on a one-day delay as previously announced. More information is available in a separate alert on our home page.
While the coldest temperatures for the week are behind us, please continue to take extra safety precautions until warmer temperatures arrive.
Please continue to watch www.vniles.com and Village social media for further updates.
