[ARCHIVED] Winter Weather Update

Due to the forecast extreme cold on Wednesday, please note the following schedule and safety information:

  • The Village's warming center will be the Niles Senior Center, open from 8:30am until 5:00pm ONLY. (Fitness Center will NOT be available as a warming center).
  • After 5:00pm, contact non-emergency police at 847-588-6500 for assistance.
  • Garbage collection is delayed one day this week.
  • Village Hall will be closed all day Wednesday and until noon on Thursday.
  • The Niles Family Fitness Center will be closed from 6:00pm Tuesday until 12:00 noon on Thursday.
  • Fitness Center and Senior Center programs are cancelled from 6:00pm Tuesday until 12:00 noon on Thursday.
  • The Village recommends leaving faucets on a slow drip to help prevent freezing pipes.
  • Please check on neighbors who may need extra assistance.
  • Avoid going outside if at all possible during this extreme cold.
  • In an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
  • Residents will be receiving an automated phone call this afternoon with warming center information.
  • The Village's website is experiencing technical difficulties. Please refer to social media for the latest updates.
