[ARCHIVED] Niles Teen Center- Week of July 31- August 3

Please find below information on events and activities taking place at or with the Niles Teen Center in the next couple of weeks.

                                                  

Summer Hours of 2:00-6:00 pm continue

During the summer, the Teen Center will be open from 2:00-6:00 pm through Friday, August 17.

 

M-NASR visit on Tues. 7/31
The Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation will be using the Teen Center from 2:15 to 3:45 pm for some of their day camp activities.  If you are at the Teen Center at that time, please try to engage with the campers, play a game or spend some time talking with them.

 

Game Tournament- Wed. Aug. 1- Call of Duty 3- 4:30-5:30 pm
Most Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m., the Teen Center staff will set up tournaments for video games and table games like Foosball, Air Hockey, Darts, NBA2K16 or Call of Duty 3. Prizes may be awarded to winners.

 

Craft Project- Thursday Aug. 2- Fruity Pebbles Marshmallow Treats - 4:00-5:00 pm

Join Jamie in making colorful, sweet and sticky treat with marshmallows and cereal.


Teen Movie “Night OUT” Friday, August 3- 6:00-8:30 pm- $9 each

Enjoy a movie at AMC Theater - Golf Mill for $9 (price subject to change). Please bring extra money for snacks during the movie. Pre-registration is not required.

Movie Choice will be decided by Wed. August 1st

 

Mark Out on Tues. 7/31 & Wed. 8/1 for training

Mark will be away from the Teen Center on Tues. 7/31 and Wed. 8/1 for to attend a 2 day training seminar on Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.  Jamie will be in charge while Mark is out.

 

National Night Out- Tuesday, August 7

The Niles Police Department will hold the National Night Out Against Crime and Drugs. This is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. This event is held internationally on the first Tuesday in August. Other communities will be simultaneously holding their events. This event will include a “flashlight walk,” “dunk a cop,” donut eating contest, DUI simulation driving and much more. Come enjoy the fun and build the community spirit at this great event.

Teen Programs at the Niles-Maine District Library

Summer Reading Challenge: Reading Take You Everywhere- Fri., June 1 – Sun., Aug. 19- Grades 7-12
Sign up in the Teen Underground to get a reading log and a carabineer key chain. Complete your log and exchange it for a water bottle, plus entry in the weekly and grand prize drawings. No more than 1 log per day, please. Check items off the summer bucket list to include on your reading log. Complete the entire bucket list for a bonus prize. Complete as many logs as you like over the summer for more chances to win!

Recycle t-shirts and design fun summer bracelets and headbands. Learn how to make these easy cute accessories.

 

Dungeons & Dragons- Grades 7-12
Character Creation Day: Sat., Aug. 11, 2:00-5:00 pm
Adventure Day: Sat., Aug. 18, 1:00-4:00 pm- 

Dive into the cooperative storytelling world of Dungeons & Dragons in this two-part workshop. Dungeon Master Luke Rathburn will lead you through the creative process as you build your own unique character on August 11. Return on August 18 for a thrilling adventure tailor-made by Luke to fit the characters everyone has created.

Click Login (top right of page)

Click forgot password

Type in the email you verified with the Teen Center

You will be sent an email with a link to reset your password.  Type your password, verify your password and click submit.

Click Login to access your account

Click on My Account

You are now able to enter all Family Account Information


With your online account, you will be able to register and pay online for events and activities like movie night and trips.  However, you will not be able to renew your membership.  Memberships must be renewed in person through the Teen Center office.


Policy and Procedure Manual
Teen Center staff recently developed a policy and procedure manual.  The information included is intended for teens and parents, as well as staff, explaining our standard procedures of operation and explaining behavior expectations and consequences for teen participants.
Parents, please review this document with your teen participant.  Thanks!


ID cards REQUIRED for TC Attendance
Remember, ALL Teens are REQUIRED to have and USE their teen center ID cards to CHECK-IN to the facility.  Any need for a reprinted ID will be $5 each.  If you don’t have your ID, you will create more work for Mark and he will have to manually check you in.  The new MaxGalaxy software does not allow members to bypass the ID scanner, therefore ALL TEENS MUST USE THEIR ID CARDS TO CHECK-IN.  Thanks!
