7/20/2018 - Work is slated to begin the week of July 23 on Howard Street as part of the Morton Grove – Niles Water Commission (MGNWC) water supply improvement project. As part of the work, Howard Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Oak Park Avenue and Natchez Avenue. The expected duration of the lane closure is two months. Drivers should reduce speed, allow extra time and use caution in this area and/or seek alternate routes.
Previous lane reductions on Oakton Street are ending at this time, reopening that road to full capacity.
The MGNWC is currently building a new water main which will connect Morton Grove and Niles to a cheaper water supply from Evanston instead of Chicago. Visit the MGNWC web site for more information about this legacy project and the long-term savings associated with it.
