The Niles Senior Center is pleased to have George Button as our 2018 Super Senior recipient. George has been volunteering as the Rhythm Band leader at the Niles Senior Center for the last 17 years. Once an internationally renowned linguist who has held
prominent positions with governments around the world, George now uses the language of music to bring joy to older adults in Niles and the surrounding communities. He takes the music seed that has been planted in every one of us, and fosters blooms of sound in those among us who never realized we had any type of musical skill, let alone enough to play in a band. He devotes countless hours a month in recruiting new band participants, directing the bi-weekly band practice, and providing one-on-one ukulele lessons to members---all from the goodness of his heart. George keeps the spirit and soul alive through his gift of music and is an invaluable member of the Niles Senior Center family. The Niles Senior Center is honored to have George as our Super Senior 2018 recipient.
