Here's the opportunity to see everyone's favorite ogre onstage, in an evening of music and fun, as tickets are now available for "Shrek the Musical."

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 23, Saturday, February 24, Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3. Tickets cost $10.

The synopsis: "Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets?"

Village of Niles- Snow Shoveling Program
The Niles Senior Center has a Snow Shoveling program that is offered to seniors and/or disabled Niles residents and in need of assistance. We do our best to match the resident with an available volunteer within their neighborhood. Volunteers are asked to remove snow from public walkways and front sidewalks. After the conclusion of a 3” or greater snowfall, volunteers will visit their assigned home within 48 hours to remove snow.

This program is based solely on volunteer participation, if you are interested in becoming a volunteer or know of anyone who would like to volunteer for this important program, you can sign up through Volgistics on the VON website.

I have attached the Show Shoveling brochure if there is anyone you know that could use this service, or might want to volunteer their time this winter season. Please contact Jaymi Blickhahn at the Niles Senior Center should you have any questions.
