[ARCHIVED] 125 Rain Barrels Given Away with Culver and Coke

Through the combined efforts of the village, Culver School, Boy Scout Troop 821, and Coca-Cola in Niles, 125 retrofitted syrup containers were distributed to residents who were very happy to receive them on Saturday, May 21. Each of the residents in attendance sat through a short presentation on the rain barrels and how they work.

The rain barrel giveaway was held at Culver School to highlight a prestigious rain garden grant they received, which was one of three awarded by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in 2011. The Culver School rain garden will be the second public rain garden since the Niles Community Rain Garden was built in 2008. Chris’ Landscaping is providing Culver School and Boy Scout Troop 821 with expert advice and assistance.
