The Niles Police Department is proud to announce the 2011 National Night Out Poster Contest!
Who Can Participate: Children of Niles Residents, Village of Niles Employees, Niles Park District Employees and their family members between the ages of 3 to 12 years old. There are two age categories for this contest, Group 1: ages 3 to 6 and Group 2: 7 to 12 years of age.
Theme: “Safe and Secure Community” What does a safe and secure community look like to you? So, if you could design your own community, what would it be?
Poster Suggestions:
Posters of police, fire, EMS, and other government departments working with the community to make our neighborhood safe. Positive neighborhood activities that encourage people to get to know and watch out for each other. Posters should illustrate “what community safety means to you” or can focus on alcohol, drug, and/or violence prevention. Kids can draw, color, or paint their ideas regarding neighborhood and personal safety; such as locking bikes, locking front doors or leaving porch lights on, etc.
Prizes: provided by our local banks and businesses for the best in group and runner up.
Materials and Size: Any drawing or painting materials or combination thereof (crayon, paint, pencil, etc.) on paper. Original artwork only, not computer generated. Bold colors are encouraged. Posters may be submitted on plain paper or poster board not to exceed 22” by 28” in size.

Must be delivered before judging date to qualify.
Judging: July 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Niles Police Department, 7000 Touhy, Niles, IL in the Police Department Training Room. Judging will be by the Chief of Police, Village Manager, Mayor and Trustees of the Village of Niles, winners will be contacted per contact information provided, and notified prior to the August 2 date. All posters will be displayed at the National Night Out event scheduled for August 2 beginning at 6 p.m. at the National Night Out at Washington Park, 8900 block of Washington, Niles, Illinois.
