[ARCHIVED] Document Destruction/Electronics Recycling Event

In cooperation with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), the Village of Niles will be hosting a Document Destruction and Electronics Recycling event at the Niles Public Services Department, 6849 Touhy Avenue, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 30, 2011. Vehicles should enter the Public Services facility off of Franks Avenue. Signs and personnel will direct you to the proper location.

Residentially-generated paper, such as medical forms, bank statements, personal files, retired tax forms, etc. may be disposed of at this event. No materials from businesses, schools or institutions will be accepted. There is a limit of six banker sized boxes per vehicle. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed, but please remove any binders.

Electronics will also be recycled at the same time. The following is a list of items which may be recycled at the event:

  • Peripherals (Mice, Keyboards, Drives)
  • Printers
  • Scanners
  • TVs
  • VHS Players
  • Video Game Consoles
Unacceptable Materials
  • Air Conditioners
  • Answering Machines
  • Blenders
  • Calculators
  • Camcorders
  • CDs / DVDs (Games)
  • Copy Machines
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Digital Cameras
  • Home Appliances
  • Humidifiers
  • Microwaves
  • Print Cartridges
  • Postage Machines
  • Power Tools/Cords
  • Refrigerators
  • Shredders
  • Software
  • Stereo Equipment
  • Telephones

  • Typewriters
