[ARCHIVED] Niles Teen Center- Week of June 19

Please find below information on events and activities taking place at or with the Niles Teen Center in the next couple of weeks.

 

Summer Hours continue- 2:00- 6:00 pm – Tuesday to Friday

 

Niles Mini-Golf & Batting Cages- Deadline extended to Wed. June 21- $4 each

We have 5 teens registered.  We will not cancel this trip.

 

Join Teen Center staff as we travel to the Niles Park District’s Pioneer Park for an afternoon full of fun including 2 games of mini-golf and open batting cages. We may even have time for a game of kick ball in the playing fields. You must be at the Teen Center by 10:45 a.m. The bus will not wait if you’re late. We will be taking the 11:02 p.m. # 411 Niles Free Bus to the park and returning on the 3:10 p.m. bus back to Golf Mill.  Please bring some extra cash for a snack and drinks at the concession stand.

Time: 10:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

 

Cost: $4 each

Craft Project- Thurs. June 22- Munchkin Fruit Skewers- 4:00- 5:00 pm

 

Join Ann in making a tasty treat with donut holes, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. The perfect combination for a relaxing day at the Teen Center.

 

 

 

Game Tournament- Injustice 2- Wed. June 21 - 4:30-5:30 pm
Most Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m., the Teen Center staff will set up tournaments for video games and table games like Foosball, Air Hockey, Darts, NBA2K16 or Call of Duty 3. Prizes may be awarded to winners.

  

 

 

Breakfast (and Lunch) is Served @ D63 This Summer!

 

All children 18 and under in the D63 community (whether or not they attend D63 schools) are eligible for a free, cold breakfast or lunch this summer at specific school buildings during our summer programs (program participation isn’t required).

D63 is a USDA-approved Summer Food Service Program site.

 

 

 

Teen Center CLOSED on Friday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 4

 

Teen Center will be Closed Friday 6/30 and Tuesday 7/4 due to Niles 4th of July Parade

  

Niles 4th of July Float and Parade

 

Come and show the community what Niles youth are all about!!! We’ll join the parade in a truck, provided by Golf Mill Ford, which we will decorate ourselves! Come to party and pass out candy and flyers. Don’t stand on the sidelines; be a part of the parade! Please sign up by Thursday, June 29 to participate.  You can still participate even if you don’t sign up prior.

Summer Reading 2017: Reading By Design- June 1- August 15- Grades 7-12
Design your own reading challenge! Sign up in the Teen Underground to get a reading log and super 4-color pen. Complete 1 of 3 paths on your log and exchange it for a Boogie Bot, plus entry in the weekly and grand prize drawings. Stop by the Teen Underground each week to complete a design challenge, which can be counted on your log. Complete as many logs as you like over the summer for more chances to win!

 

 

 

Project Playbill Summer Theatre Program 

 

Rehearsals Mon., Wed., Fri., June 19-July 21, 1:00-3:00 pm for Grades 7-Class of 2017

 

Help write, produce, and perform an original play for all ages. Earn volunteer hours while having fun and expressing yourself, whether on or off stage. Be ready to share your ideas and roll up your sleeves. Our first brainstorming session/rehearsal will be Monday, June 19. Attendance at every rehearsal is not required, but actors and director will need to be available for the performance on Saturday, July 22.

 

 

 

Feminism 101- Tues., June 20, 2:00-4:00pm- Grades 7-12
The word feminist gets a lot of attention these days, but what is feminism? This informal Q & A introduces theories, events and individuals that have contributed to defining the Feminist Movement.

  

Henna Designs for Teens- Registration required- Tues., June 27, 3:30-5:00pm- Grades 7-12

 

After a brief introduction of the history of henna, an artist from Tamariel Paints will create a unique henna design for each teen participant.

   

Camp Old Navy - Job Shadow Day- Deadline Thurs. July 6
Spend four hours at Old Navy (Niles) with Ann for a job shadow experience. Learn about the operation of the fitting rooms and cash register, how to receive shipments and how to restock the sales floor. Each participant will get a mid-day snack and a free pair of flip-flops. You will meet Ann at the Teen Center and we will all walk across the street to the Old Navy store.

Friday, July 7-Teen “In House” Movie Night- 6:00- 8:00 pm.- $4 each

 

Come to the Teen Center for Teen Movie Nights. Stop by or call to recommend a teen movie. All movies will be PG or PG-13. Bring a pillow or blanket and make yourself at home. 2 bags of chips, 1 soda and unlimited popcorn will be provided. Additional chips and soda will be available for purchase. No sign-up prior to event is necessary. Movie Choices are still to be decided

 

 

    

Wish Upon Movie events- Thurs. 7/13 and Fri. 7/14
In cooperation with Allied Integrated Marketing, the Teen Center will be promoting the movie “Wish Upon” by hosting a couple of events and some free give aways.

 

Thursday, July 13- 3:30-5:00 pm- Nail Event
Come get some free swag (nail polish, selfie lights, and posters) for the new movie “Wish Upon”.  Ann and Maddie will be helping decorate nails.
Friday, July 14- Movie Theater- WISH UPON
FREE TO THE FIRST 11 TEENS to Sign up with Mark
We will go to the see the opening weekend of “Wish Upon” (PG-13- Horror/Thriller).  Thanks to Golf Mill Mall for providing $100 in AMC gift cards.  Anyone after the first 11 will have to pay Mark $9 for the movie.

 

The specific time of the movie showing will be decided by Wed. 7/12.

Type in the email you verified with the Teen Center

 

You will be sent an email with a link to reset your password.  Type your password, verify your password and click submit.

 

Click Login to access your account

 

Click on My Account

 

You are now able to enter all Family Account Information

  

With your online account, you will be able to register and pay online for events and activities like movie night and trips.  However, you will not be able to renew your membership.  Memberships must be renewed in person through the Teen Center office.

 

 

 

Policy and Procedure Manual
Teen Center staff recently developed a policy and procedure manual.  The information included is intended for teens and parents, as well as staff, explaining our standard procedures of operation and explaining behavior expectations and consequences for teen participants.
Parents, please review this document with your teen participant.  Thanks!

  

ID cards REQUIRED for TC Attendance
Remember, ALL Teens are REQUIRED to have and USE their teen center ID cards to CHECK-IN to the facility.  Any need for a reprinted ID will be $5 each.  If you don’t have your ID, you will create more work for Mark and he will have to manually check you in.  The new MaxGalaxy software does not allow members to bypass the ID scanner, therefore ALL TEENS MUST USE THEIR ID CARDS TO CHECK-IN.  Thanks!
