[ARCHIVED] Niles Renews Electrical Aggregation Program

Effective June 1st, 2017, the Village of Niles is beginning a new electrical aggregation program with Eligo Energy. This agreement provides a fixed energy supply rate of 6.86 cents per kWh for 15 months, compared to an expected average ComEd rate of 7.14 cents per kWh.  The previous municipal aggregation program with IDT expires on May 31st, 2017.  While all residents will continue to have their power delivered and billed by ComEd, the "electric supply" portion of their bill is what will be affected by the aggregation agreement, and will reflect the Eligo Energy name and price.

Residents who currently have energy supplied by ComEd or IDT will be automatically switched over to Eligo Energy effective June 1st, 2017. Residents do, however, have the option to opt-out of the aggregation program to remain with ComEd as their energy supplier and distributor. Residents must opt-out by May 26th, 2017 to remain with ComEd, even if they opted out during a previous aggregation agreement.  Residents who do not opt-out by May 26th will be switched to Eligo Energy, but still have the ability to opt-out later and return back to ComEd at any time during the agreement without penalty.

Options for opting-out of the Niles Aggregation Program (Opt-out request must be received by Eligo by May 26th to take effect by June 1st)

-Look for a letter from "Village of Niles Electric Aggregation Program" in your mailbox and return the enclosed form as soon as possible in order to ensure receipt by May 26th.

-Call Eligo Energy at 888-744-8125, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Be sure to have your ComEd account number ready.

-Send an e-mail to nilesoptout@eligoenergy.com with a photo of your opt-in slip you received in the mail.

After you contact Eligo Energy to opt-out of the aggregation program, they will take the necessary steps to ensure ComEd keeps your account with ComEd, who will then send you a confirmation letter.

If you already have your own individual alternate energy supplier (neither ComEd nor IDT), you will not be switched over to the Village’s aggregation program. You may, however, opt-in to the Village’s program at any time by calling Eligo Energy at 888-744-8125.

For more information and answers to any questions, visit Eligo Energy’s website, or call Eligo Energy at 888-744-8125, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
