The Niles Police Department is continuing its search for community volunteers. In the department's continued mission to increase our Volunteers In Police Service (V.I.P.S.) program we will be conducting training for the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) program. This program is designed to teach local community members in light search and rescue, first-aid, triage, small fire suppression, traffic control, and managing spontaneous volunteers. The training is free to all residents and business partners in the Village of Niles. The training will be held Wednesday evenings 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. from January 18, 2012, through March 14, 2012. Interested persons must fill out an application with the Niles Police Department to be considered for this volunteer position.
