Please find below information on events and activities taking place at or with the Niles Teen Center in the next couple of weeks.
Game Tournament- Blur- Tuesday, October 11- 4:00-6:00 pm
Most Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m., the Teen Center staff will set up tournaments for video games and table games like Foosball, Air Hockey, Darts, NBA2K16 or Call of Duty 3. Prizes may be awarded to winners.
Teen Center OPEN on Wednesday October 12 from 2:45-7:00pm
School may be closed due to the Yom Kippur holiday but the Teen Center will be Open for our regular hours.
Tile Art Project Begins on Thursday, October 13- 4:00-6:00 pm and continues for 2 weeks- Theme is “WHAT’S YOUR PASSION?”
As part of the Niles Lights ON Afterschool event on October 20, all area school students are invited to create an art piece using the formatted paper provided by Square 1 Art. 100 pieces of artwork will be chosen as finalists. Each finalist’s artwork will be converted into a ceramic tile. The 100 ceramic tile art pieces will be mounted at Golf Mill Shopping Center as part of a permanent art installation. Artwork should be submitted to the Niles Teen Center no later than Friday, November 4. Winners will be announced with an unveiling ceremony in mid-February 2016.

REMINDER- IF YOUR TEEN STAYS HOME FROM SCHOOL BECAUSE OF ILLNESS, THEY SHOULD NOT BE COMING TO THE TEEN CENTER THAT DAY. TEENS WILL BE SENT HOME IF IT IS CLEAR THAT THEY WERE NOT IN SCHOOL THAT SAME DAY.
Girls Group- Wednesday, October 12 from 4:00- 5:00 pm
Have you had a rough week at school? Are you juggling too many responsibilities and feeling stressed? Having a conflict with a friend? Or maybe you just want to share ideas with other teens? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us for group! Girls group is Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00, and boys group is Thursdays from 4:00-5:00.
These groups are designed to meet the social and emotional needs of teens. They focus on improving self-esteem/self-image, communication skills, conflict resolution, reducing stressors and addressing other challenges teens face. The groups are facilitated by Nicole Espinoza and Darren Brown of Niles Family Services.

Lights ON Afterschool is Coming!!!- Mark your calendars- Thursday, October 20 from 4:00-6:00 pm- Rally at 5:45 pm
Join 8,000 other communities and 1 million Americans in celebrating afterschool programs at the Afterschool Alliance’s 17th annual “Niles Lights On Afterschool” event! This nationwide event calls attention to the importance of afterschool programs and the resources required to keep the lights on and the doors open. The Niles Teen Center, TLC: Total Learning Community and Golf Mill Shopping Center are proud to be Lights On Afterschool Partners. This event will include an information fair of community youth organizations, program demonstrations, an open house and tour of the Teen Center, arts and crafts projects, food and prizes, and a rally with community speakers.

Time: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Place: Niles Teen Center- Mall Hallway inside entrance #6/. Rally begins at 5:45 p.m. in front of the Teen Center

Policy and Procedure Manual
Teen Center staff recently developed a policy and procedure manual. The information included is intended for teens and parents, as well as staff, explaining our standard procedures of operation and explaining behavior expectations and consequences for teen participants.

ID cards REQUIRED for TC Attendance
Remember, ALL Teens are REQUIRED to have and USE their teen center ID cards to CHECK-IN to the facility. Any need for a reprinted ID will be $5 each. If you don’t have your ID, you will create more work for Mark and he will have to manually check you in. The new MaxGalaxy software does not allow members to bypass the ID scanner, therefore ALL TEENS MUST USE THEIR ID CARDS TO CHECK-IN. Thanks!
