The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District will be conducting targeted adult mosquito control operations in portions of Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Niles and Skokie on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, between the hours of 8:00 PM and 2:00 AM, weather permitting. This process is an important step in controlling the adult mosquito population. Operations in Niles will mainly be happening east of Harlem Avenue.
Mosquitoes have tested positive for the West Nile virus in our village within the last seven days. These mosquito control operations are one element in limiting human infection with the West Nile virus. The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District recommends that residents take personal protection measures to minimize mosquito bites including: using insect repellent, wearing loose fitting clothing and avoiding peak mosquito feeding times during the hours around dawn and dusk. Residents are urged to examine their property and eliminate any items that can hold water, particularly smaller items that may be easily overlooked.
