[ARCHIVED] Volunteer Opportunity- Native Seed Planting Processing Party

We are pleased to announce a new volunteer workday which allows our volunteers to help the environment while remaining indoors! Seed which was collected during the Autumn Rain Garden Workday will be processed by hand to separate seed from the other plant material. Removing dirt and plant material will reduce the bulk for handling and storage, as well as remove moist material that may cause mold formation. Packets will be stuffed with the processed seed and given away to promote interest and education of native landscaping. Native landscapes help reduce water run-off during large rain storms, increase pollinator activity, and attract colorful birds. You are welcome and encouraged to take a seed packet home with you to start or continue a native landscape of your own! Refreshments will be served.

This event is co-hosted by the Village of Niles and the Niles Public Library District on Sunday, January 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Niles Public Library District (6960 W Oakton St.).
