Due to the lack of a state budget, the Secretary of State's office announced in late September 2015 that it is suspending the mailing of vehicle registration renewal reminder notices. By suspending this service, the Office stated it will save approximately $450,000 per month. Vehicle owners are encouraged to be mindful of their vehicle registration status. Motorists can sign up to receive reminder notices electronically by email. For up-to-date information, check in with the Secretary of State's website
In order to a new sticker online, you will need:
*The Registration ID and Pin Number found on your current Illinois Registration Identification Card
*The Insurance Company Name, Policy Number and Expiration Date for the vehicle of the license plate you are renewing.
Payments can be made online by certain credit cards or with an electronic check on the Secretary of State's License Plate Renewal page. There is a $2.25 Payment Processor Fee for each vehicle.
License plate stickers can also be purchased at your local Secretary of State Facility.
