Patrol Support

There are civilian employees assigned to the Patrol Division to aid in non-enforcement tasks of the Department. These employees include 5 Operational Support Officers who are on duty 24 hours a day. Their tasks include answering the Police phones as well as after hours phones for the Village. They assist officers with arrests and monitor anyone in police custody. The Niles Animal Control Officer works in the capacity of Operational Support Officer when not performing Animal Control functions.

Niles also employs over 25 part time Community Service Officers. Their duties include assisting in the building at the front desk and who assist throughout the Village by directing traffic, enforcing parking regulations, documenting private property vehicle crashes, assisting in animal control, and aiding patrol officers with any non-enforcement duties.
