Alex Talbott Luncheon

Alex Talbott defies explanation. His talents range far and wide with a focus in music. A multi-instrumentalist, he plays saxophone and guitar. He is also a vocalist and an aspiring songwriter. He has played with some top ensembles in the area. These include but are not exclusive to the Jazz Ensemble I, the University Wind Ensemble, and his own personal band. The menu includes a salad and dessert and Wally’s Restaurant in Park Ridge will be providing the main course of chicken kabobs, shish kabobs, rice pilaf, grilled vegetables, and pita bread. Fall BBQ - Hosted by NSC Men’s Club


Before we say goodbye to summer, let’s think about those white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters once again. Come experience a little bit of Jamaica at our Fall BBQ with reggae star Ainsworth Rose who will have us grooving to some island beats. Menu includes: burgers, grilled BBQ chicken, cole slaw, roasted potatoes, dessert, and beverage. Dress in some island gear for our photo booth, and come feel alright with us! Doors open at 11:30am.

Oktoberfest Luncheon


Join the Niles Senior Center as we welcome Alpine Thunder to perform a lively show of yodeling, schnitzelbank, beer-hall songs and other great German songs for our Oktoberfest! We will feast upon chicken Schnitzel, German potato salad, veggies and a delicious dessert. You don’t have to be from Germany to celebrate Oktoberfest at the Niles Senior Center.

2016 Presidential Election Analysis and Predictions presented by Julie Strauss, Ph.D.  We will welcome back Julie to the NSC while she discusses how this has arguably been one of the most unpredictable and unprecedented election cycles in recent memory.  Discover the highlights (and lowlights) of the campaign.  Explore the strategies and tactics of each nominee during the general election, as well as their debate performances, fundraising, and polling.  Finally, learn how this election is perceived by the international community.  Lunch will include a grilled chicken sandwich, chips and dessert.

“Chicago’s Legendary Christmas Tree Ship” Luncheon by Rochelle Pennington


All aboard!  Author Rochelle Pennington is back by popular demand to deliver the true account of Chicago’s legendary Christmas Tree Ship, considered the most loved story of the Great Lakes over the past century.  Pennington’s presentation will include original photographs and will focus on little-known facts, the story behind the story.  Artifacts raised from the sunken ship will be on display, along with underwater photos of the ship in its current state at the bottom of Lake Michigan.
“It is a story which exemplifies the best of humanity,” said Pennington. “At its heart we find courage, generosity, heroism, and the importance of family. The moment I first heard about the famed vessel, I understood why it had endeared itself to so many people and was still being shared a hundred years later.”    Lunch will be served following the program.  Lunch includes: grilled chicken, baked potato, salad and dessert.

Greg Woods Luncheon


Greg is a tenor, pianist, guitarist, and plays the ukulele. He is also the leader of his own group, “Time and The New Romans.” Greg comes from a musical family and is a pro at composing and producing original music. His love of performing is sure to guarantee a wonderful afternoon. The main course is provided by Catered by Design in Morton Grove and will include cream of chicken soup with wild rice. Meal options include: 1) grilled chicken club or  2) Italian sandwich including: genoa salami, capicola, mortadella, pepperoni , provolone and a dessert.
