SEWER RODDING REIMBURSEMENT FUNDING NO LONGER AVAILABLE
Reimbursement to homeowners under the sewer rodding program was subject to funding availability. For the fiscal year ending on April 30, 2017, available funding was exhausted as of January, 2017. Therefore no further reimbursements will be processed during the current fiscal year. Additionally, the Village has agreed to offer a new warranty program for residents, therefore it is not anticipated the Sewer Rodding Reimbursement Program will not be funded again next fiscal year.
In January, 2017 the Niles Board of Trustees unanimously voted to participate in the National League of Cities Service Line Warranty Program. This program provides Village residents protection from unforeseen expenditures related to their sanitary service lines and water lines. Oftentimes, homeowners are not aware that they are responsible for maintaining the sanitary service (which takes wastewater from the home) through to its connection to the Village main, or for a portion of the water service into the home. When unexpected repairs are needed to either of these lines, the Service Line Warranty Program will pay for repairs for anyone who is participating in the program, potentially saving expensive, unanticipated repair costs.
More details about this new program will be sent to residents.
