The Public Works sewer section is responsible for the maintenance of sewer lines in the village. Crews are equipped with the latest technology available for sewer maintenance, such as sewer televising equipment which easily locates problem areas. Crews are able to make repairs with pinpoint accuracy in order to avoid unnecessary complications.
Sewer Programs
A sewer lining program to rehabilitate existing sewers and a vaporooter treatment program to prevent the growth of roots are performed annually to improve and maintain the integrity of the system.
Vapor rooting is a chemical process to eliminate tree root intrusion in sanitary and combination sewer lines and even sewer laterals. A contractor inserts a hose through the manhole and into the sewer and sprays the chemical into the sewer which then foams up to adhere to the roots. The chemical used does not harm trees or other above ground vegetation. The sewer lines being treated were identified via sewer cleaning and televising efforts.
In April, 2020, Dukes Root Control will be working throughout the Village. Neighborhoods being treated include: Golden Acres, Ransom Ridge, Emerson Place, Courtland Park, Washington Park and Chesterfield Gardens.
