The Investigations Division of the Niles Police Department is responsible for conducting both adult and juvenile criminal investigations. This unit is responsible for conducting thorough follow-up investigations, including the interviewing of witnesses and the identifying, apprehending, and the successful prosecution of criminal offenders in a court of law. The personnel of the Investigations Division also monitor and collect intelligence information, which is then disseminated to the Patrol Division and other law enforcement agencies.
The Investigations Division’s is equipped with the latest physical and technological advancements which includes:
Two audio/video interview rooms
A major case room
A soft interview room (child victims)
A computer-based wanted poster dissemination system, which allows for the distribution of photo / intelligence bulletins to be sent
The Investigations Division currently has a staff of eight: one deputy chief, one sergeants,five investigators, one investigative aid / consumer fraud officer. The investigators' work schedule is:
Day Shift - 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Afternoon Shift - 10:00 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Evening Shift - 12:00 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Monday through Sunday
All investigative personnel are subject to call outs after normal work hours.
