National Night Out

The National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event meant to improve Police-Community relations. The event is held on the first Tuesday in August throughout the United States. The event is coordinated by the National Association of Town Watch. The National Night Out started in 1983 and has grown annually. Niles 1st participated in the NNO in 2002 and has participated every year since.

The 2017 National Night Out will be held at Oak Park - Main & Ottawa
On August 1st from 6:00 pm to 9 pm.

The National Night Out: The Aftermath...

  • 700 people in attendance
  • 500 hotdogs devoured
  • 2880 ounces of soft drinks consumed
  • 6300 ounces of water passed out.
  • 300 cups of custard filling the Culvers craving.
  • 200 cups of ice cream from Family Fitness Center
  • Thousands of popcorn kernels popped, handed out and consumed by the Niles Fire Department.
  • 4 presentations including, two self-defense presentations, a drone safety and Pokemon Go Safety Presentation. The 1st time a Drone has flown over the event! Awesome
  • 300 balls thrown at the dunk tank, lead to endless hours of fun, water splashing and good times
  • Hundreds of jumpy feet in the Fire Trunk Jump House.
