Records Bureau

The Niles Police Department Records Bureau is responsible for maintaining all case reports, arrest reports, and accident reports as well as reporting statistics to the Illinois State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Routinely, the staff of the section assists other divisions within the department by conducting research or searching old case files for information relating to current cases or follow-up investigations. The Records Section is staffed by three full time records clerks, a part-time records clerk a part-time court officer, and a part-time abandoned auto officer.

If you are requesting a copy of an accident report, you must contact the Records Section five days prior to coming into to pick up your copy. There is a cost of $5 for each copy of the accident report. Copies of case reports are determined on a case-by-case basis, as there are restrictions by law.
