Employment Information

The NFD offers a written test every 2-3 years in order to establish an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The NFD, along with the Park Ridge Fire Department, Morton Grove Fire Department, and Wilmette Fire Department participate in a consortium testing process allowing interested applicants to apply to any one or a combination of all four departments depending on qualifications. Interested candidates can find more information about how to complete the CPAT at NIPSTA’s website as well as SUFD’s website. 

The NFD has established a final Eligibility Roster which will expire on November 24, 2024. A printed copy of the Eligibility Roster can be found at both NFD Fire Stations, Niles Village Hall, or can be viewed electronically here.
