Station Tours

Would you like to bring your school class, park district team, religious group, etc. for a tour of the Firehouse? If so, we would love to give your group a first-hand look at what it is like to be a Niles Firefighter. School Visits

Do you think your school or class would enjoy a visit from a Niles Firefighter? If so, we would be happy to come to your school and talk to the students about fire safety and show them what a Niles Firefighter will look like when he/she is fighting a fire. Block Parties

Have you ever had a Fire Truck at your block party? If you think the children and/or residents on your block would enjoy a visit from the NFD please complete this Block Party Fire Truck Request Form so we can show you what a Fire Truck looks like up close! Our availability is always dependent on emergency calls for service but we will do our best to give you and your neighbors a first hand look at a Fire Truck. Citizens Fire Academy

If you have ever wondered what it’s like to be a firefighter, and you are 21 or older, the Citizens Fire Academy might be right for you! Topics include Engine Operations, Truck Operations, Vehicle Extrication, and more! Classes meet one night per week for nine weeks and culminate in a live fire training experience! Dates are being finalized for the Fall 2020 class but you can learn more by contacting District Chief Guerino at srg@vniles.com or by phone at 847-588-6800.

Open House

Each year the NFD looks forward to showcasing our Station, our vehicles, and our skills at our Annual Open House. There are activities for kids, Firefighter demonstrations, food, and you can even win the chance to ride inside the basket of Tower Ladder 2! The date for the 2020 Open House is still TBD so keep an eye out for updates!
