1. Prevention of Crime

2. Apprehension of Offenders

3. Recovery and Return of Property

4. Movement of Traffic

5. Public Service

Due to the fact criminals can move from one jurisdiction to another, the Niles Police Department is part of a cooperative, regional effort to fight crime and apprehend offenders.  This includes Niles' involvement with NIPAS (Northern Illinois Police Alarm System), NORTAF (North Regional Major Crimes Task Force), as well as mutual aid agreements with surrounding communities.  In sum, the entire region shares valuable resources to effectively fight crime.
