Niles Family Services is a family counseling division of the Human Services Department of the Village of Niles. It was established in the 1970s to provide counseling services to Niles residents. The agency is committed to helping people contend with difficulties and resolve a variety of personal problems. The goal of Niles Family Services is to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Niles.

Who is on the Staff?

The Niles Family Services staff is made up of professional, licensed social workers and psychologists. The staff is highly trained and skilled in working with the community including the residents, schools, businesses, and the police and fire departments.

Is There a Fee?

There is a fee for services based on each family's income and size. However, NO NILES RESIDENT IS DENIED SERVICE BECAUSE OF INABILITY TO PAY.

Niles Family Services provides assistance to people of all ages who live in the Village of Niles.

How Do I Obtain Services?

In order to talk with a counselor, call Niles Family Services during office hours. We will help you determine the services that would be beneficial to a particular problem. We are here to answer any questions you may have, make an appointment, or provide information and referrals. All conversations and interviews are completely confidential.

Does Niles Family Services provide speakers?

Yes. The professional staff is available to Niles' businesses, schools, and community groups for educational and informational seminars and groups. Topics can be tailored to each organization's particular interest or need.

Does Niles Family Services have an Emergency Food Pantry?

Yes. The Food Pantry is open for Village of Niles residents for emergency purposes only.  The food has been donated to our pantry to help families who have little or no food.  There is a procedure in order to receive food.  Please call for more information.

The Emergency Food Pantry is open M , T, Th 9:30 am - 11:30 am, 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.   W, F-9:30am-11:30am

The Niles Emergency Food Pantry collects non-perishable items.  All donations are always welcome and are greatly appreciated.


 Does Niles Family Services offer job assistance?

We can take your resume and send it to the Niles Chamber of Commerce.  They will check for any jobs available in the Niles area.  You can also go to the Niles Public Library where they have many resources and the availability of computers to help you find a job.

Other Resources:

CEDA/Neighborhood at Work, Inc., an affiliate of the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, Inc. will begin taking applications for the 2009 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program for all income eligible households beginning Saturday, November 1, 2008.  The office located at 1229 Emerson Street, Evanston, Illinois will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The program is expected to extend through April 29, 2009 or until all funds are exhausted.  For further information contact: CEDA/Neighbors at Work, Inc. The Village of Niles is issuing a cold alert from Tuesday 1/13/09 - Friday 1/16/09.  The Niles Fitness Center is open weekdays from 5:30am - 10:00pm.  The Niles Senior Center is open weekdays from 8:30am - 5:00pm.  If assistance is needed, residents are encouraged to call 911.
