Garbage collection is provided by Groot Recycling & Waste Services, Inc., who has been contracted by the Village. This company also offers a supplemental yard waste collection program to the Village's branch and leaf collection program from April to November. The Village contracts for all single family homes and multi-family homes up to four units. Garbage and recycling collection is provided once per week. The Village is divided into two zones, with collection days on Thursday and Friday. See the collection area map at the bottom of the page.

Garbage and recycling service is delayed one day on the following holidays. If your garbage pickup is usually on Thursday, pickup will be on Friday. Residents with Friday pickup will receive garbage and recycling pickup service on Saturday.

The 2011 holidays are:

• Monday, May 30, 2011 - Memorial Day
• Monday, July 4, 2011 - Independence Day 
• Monday, September 5, 2011 - Labor Day
• Thursday, November 24, 2011 - Thanksgiving Day
• Monday, December 26, 2011 - Observed Christmas Holiday
• Monday, January 2, 2012 - Observed New Year's Holiday

The items that are taken on a regular weekly service basis include:

• Household/Kitchen Garbage
• Mattresses
• Two Rolls of Carpet (One Person Able to Pickup)
• Boxes - Prior Call to Groot Recommended

All bulk items which are too large and bulky to be handled by packer type equipment shall be picked-up within 24 hours following the regular collection day and without charge.  Collection of appliances considered white goods, such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, water tanks, etc., is free of charge, however must be arranged in advance by calling Groot at (800) 244-1977 .  A special truck is used for the collection of white goods and takes place on Tuesdays. 

Items which may require "Special Service" include:

• Construction Materials or Debris
• Large Quantities of Wood
• Tile
• Doors
• Large/Long Pieces of Metal Pipe
• Heavy, Unusual Items
• Large Quantities Due to Cleanup

Items falling in the "Special Service" category would require an actual on-site inspection of items to be disposed of and a cost estimate given to the resident. This would be above and beyond the regular weekly service charge. Please call Groot at (800) 244-1977 to arrange for a special pickup.
